Tammy Baldwin and the king
Tammy Baldwin is a terrific candidate. She is very smart, articulate, well-informed and humble. We are proud of her public service and will celebrate when she wins the Senate seat now held by Herb Kohl. Of this I am confident: Tammy will be a leader in the Senate and will not forget her roots in Wisconsin. Do you want to smile? Think about Tammy and Elizabeth Warren taking the lead in the Senate.

Bob Menamin's GuestBlog post yesterday summed up debate number two between Thompson and Tammy. Bob's description of Tommy's behavior was right on target: "Crudely authoritarian, self-absorbed, disrespectful, bullying behavior." (Other than that?)

It seems obvious that the newly wealthy Thompson did not want to run, but once he condescended to do so I think he fully expected to be unopposed! In fact, he was quoted in the NY Times saying, "I don't need this (job)." Well, now, let us hope we make sure he doesn't take an office that is beneath him. He did run for president, and I think he actually thought he was qualified!

He was quite content collecting big bucks from a huge lobbying firm in Washington. Tommy's lame response is to point out that Democrats Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt are also doing Satan's work in the Senate alongside Thompson the lobbyist.

When asked a second time by the media to release his tax returns, he growled at the reporter, "What part of 'no' don't you understand?" Oh, Tommy, how clever!" (That would never happen with Tammy Baldwin.)

Tommy the bully, looks with disgust at Tammy Baldwin. One can almost see the words forming in his head. What right does she have to challenge me? Doesn't she know I am an institution?

Bob Menamin concluded that he is ashamed that Tommy is a candidate for the U.S. Senate.

Note to Bob: chin up. It could be worse. Hell, I lost to Tommy and to Bob Kasten!

Look at the bright side. When Tammy beats him we will never see him in politics again. Tommy is living proof that the Peter Principle is alive and well.
