Now, where were we?
Last night was just what the doctor ordered. Joe Biden was Joe and wonderkind Ryan was Ryan. And Martha Radatz was in charge! Translated, that means the Obama Express is back on track and Ryan is headed back to the House--not the White House.

It makes me wonder how the first presidential debate would have gone had Jim Lehrer been up to the task. He wasn't, and the results could have been catastrophic. He lost control of the debate almost immediately. This country might have elected Mr. flip-flop because the moderator was up past his bed time. Whoa Nelly!

But the polls showed that the "Romney bump" has calmed down. Latinos favor Obama 69-21! Wow. And the gender gap will grow following Ryan's pronouncement that Roe v. Wade is in danger in a Romney-Ryan administration. Women favor Obama by a big number and it will grow. About the only group, other than Wall Streeters, who favor Romney? Yup! White men! (Who are also Wall Streeters! C'mon fellows. Stop embarrassing yourselves!)

Just for penance I watched some post-election blather on Fox. They are exactly what they set out to be--a captive of the right-wing of the GOP.

Back to basics. President Obama--Don't get mad, get even. Get off the campaign trail and get ready for debates 2 and 3. Do well and you win! Get a big crowd on a campus? You get a big crowd, but so what?

Thanks, Joe Biden. Thanks.

Been thinking about moving to Elkhorn so I can vote against Paul Ryan twice.

So, constantly interrupting, smirking, being condescending, and in short, being an arrogant twit is what you equate to a debate "win?" Just how delusional have you become Ed? While it might have played well with parts of the Democratic base, Biden's over-the-top performance didn't play well with the independent and undecided voters I've talked with so far today.

Blaming the moderator is so lame, Ed. Barack Obama is president of the United States, for chrissakes!

I would like to know...

Ryan/Romney/Cons keep saying small businesses are overtaxed. What tax are they talking about?

For fun look up the definition of a "small" business. Most mom and pop places don't make the list. These "small" businesses gross millions per year.

I had a small business. There were no federal taxes other than employee taxes which weren't bad. I figured this into the cost of goods and services.

Are they complaining about income taxes? Heck, if you are paying taxes, you are making money and doing well.

Are they complaining about corporate taxes? Corporate accountants are great at minimizing corporate income and thus the taxes owed.

Personal property tax is a state tax varying from state to state.

So, what is this huge tax increase on small business the Republican'ts are whining about?

What bothered me was not Joe's behavior. Hell, Republicans always whine when the other guy acts like they do. What bothered me is how Dems are two time losers on the arguments. Moderater makes a statement such as Social Security is an entitlement and is soon to be broke. Instead of countering the (false) premise and then going on they accept the false premise and then try to debate.

That leaves the Dems playing their old "me too, just less so" game. Face it, Dems aren't really as smart as they think they are.

Also, why don't the ever explain that this is the WHOLE GOP? Rmoney/Ryan are the standard bearers of the whole whackdoodle GOP platform created by the most radical element. Are they for that platform? If so, then they are in bed with the nutso element. If not, what does the party base do about their standard bearer? Put them and the whole party in a quandry for a change. I don't see much of that happening.

(For Randy) The "smirks" were on Ryan's face,
constantly. And, it's way past time, someone interupts the constant lies of the GOP....way past time...about 50 years. They had over 200 years and administrations to put through a sensible health care system. Plus, they had about 12 years of the Bushiee-wheeee tax cuts to keep this nation on the right economic path. Instead, they scammed us all...ran a casino housing scam from NYC, and banks, insured themselves against failing loans while setting up predatory loans, collected the down payments, monthly payments, any improvements, assisted the downfall by higher gas, oil, layoffs by the thousands, and worse, collected the insurance from AIG and others...and we like fools, under Bush, bailed out AIG and the bunch. And they, like the loyal Americans they are, had huge parties in California and who knows where else (Caymans?), to celebrate their bonuses, and bailouts.

Tax cuts for the wealthy helping keep jobs? What a joke. They took their money marbles off the table and ran home after the biggest scam in US economic history, and racking up 2 war debts of
billions. You think the Friedman groupies will do anything different?
You have already bought that phony bridge they say is for sale.

Thanks Joe. Thanks for showing us how well you can stop a debate and the sharing of time to talk to American citizens. I didn't tune in to watch your destructive, childish behavior. I tuned in to see a civil exchange of ideas by two key public servants. Your methods are the same ones used to ram Obamacare through without allowing it to be reviewed. Your lack of class was only outdone by your arrogance.

-Ron | Fort Atkinson, WI | October 13, 2012

(Ron) We can talk arrogance...the same GOP spinners left in Congress when the administration changed...their only goal from the very beginning..their purpose to keep this person, JUST elected, a one term president...and, the phony tears and constant HYPOCRITICAL "NO" of a good for nothing, do nothing GOP Congress. THAT was/is arrogance. You cannot have it both ways. There are still too many people, at least half, I believe, who still think for themselves.

-hmj | Madison,WI | October 13, 2012

Oh say it isn't so the opposition party wants to make Barry a one term president? Excuse me if I call BS on your fake outrage. After all you are the same people whos goal it was to kick out Scott Walker after only a year in office. As I recall congress is made up of the house and the senate. Harry Reid has just been doing a bang up job over there now hasn't he? It seems his job is to obstruct the house and not vote on any thing including a budget which is its job. Then we have Barry wasn't he the hope and change reach across the isle guy that was going to make Washington work? Washington and the country are just as divided as ever. Who does that fall on? The GOP you would say but I say the guy in charge Barack Hussein Obama. He is the leader. He sets the tone and what was it he told the GOP? He said we won you lost so I don't have to listen to you. That doesn't sound like someone who wanted to make Washington work and reach across the isle to me. Maybe there is a video he can blame for that too.
