Tommy
It was interesting to watch Tommy Thompson in the debate with Tammy Baldwin last night. One could almost read his thoughts, "How can this youngster question me? How in the world could she be in the lead? Does she know who I am? Hell, I was governor when politics was fun."
Tammy is under his skin and he is not taking it well. How dare she challenge me, he says? OK, so he signed the Karl Rove pledge to never raise taxes but no one takes that seriously. He pretends that the Rove pledge doesn't exist. He tried to awaken the "old" Tommy but that Tommy slumbered on through the debate.
He has more than a few problems. Obama is opening a big lead in Wisconsin. The GOP is divided. Tammy has run a superb campaign and she will bring lots of energy to the Senate. Tommy? He will bring old war stories.
He admitted that he is "pro life" -- with exceptions for the health of the mother, rape and incest. Oops! But he is not ready to reverse Roe. So is he another Romney? Seems like it. There goes the right-wing GOP vote.
When will we figure out how to have debates in Wisconsin?

For me the thing that stood out is that he forgets this is not the same conditions that he enjoyed as Governor. Our recovery is being stymied by the very people who support him. And that the rich are the "entitled" ones now. They want every thing at the expense of the people.

When will we figure out how to have debates in Wisconsin?
Probably when we (and candidates) insist to that debates be run by the League of Women Voters instead of television stations.
But, I am probably still dreaming, eh?
