Your number one priority
A decade ago, Mike McCabe said that whatever your first priority is, it must give way to public financing of campaigns. Buddy Roemer said the same thing this year at Fighting Bob Fest. Ellen Miller said it, Brooks Jackson has as well, and so have many of you.

The fact is, there will not be meaningful reform of education, prisons or protection of the environment until we get big money out of politics. So, how are we doing? George Soros has a message for reformers: Don't get in the way!

Billionaire Soros gave a million dollars this week to Obama, supporting "SUPER PAC--USA ACTION." The NY Times says that Michael Vachon is a long time political adviser to Soros and he made the announcement at a gathering of the Democracy Alliance. (Soros must have had a bad year--only a million dollars? C'mon, George! Sheldon Adelsen, the creepy casino owner is giving $100 million to support Romney. Can't you loosen the purse strings?)

What does it mean that Soros is giving a minimum of one million? The NY Times concludes, "The influx of big money now makes Democrats full participants in the system of unlimited spending that many in their party have vowed to change." Ouch! There was a luncheon at the Park Avenue apartment of two big donors, Donald and Shelley Rubin, who also gave a million was headlined by Bill Clinton! Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi also attended. Whoa Nelly.

In an understatement of some note, Susan McCue, representing Majority PAC, said, "Donors are no longer sitting on the sidelines." Have they ever been seen on the sidelines? They own the system and will sit where ever they damned well please.

So, what is all this about? If you check the list of he millionaire donors you can bet he ranch that Hillary Clinton will be the nominee in 2016. All that money will flow like the Mississippi rive in spring time. This ain't democracy.

Roemer ended his Bob Fest talk by saying, "I'm not establishing a third party. I'm trying to build a nation!" Well said, Buddy. Well said.

P.S. Who is Michael Vachon? And who is Susan McCue? Have they ever run for office?
