Off we go!
It is Friday, September 14, so it must be Fighting Bob Fest kickoff time. See you tonight at 6:00 at the Goodman Center on Madison's east side.

A quote from Justice Louis Brandeis: "We may have democracy, or we may have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both." Add that profound quote to LaFollette, who argued that "there is too much power in too few hands." I can't think of a better way to start this, our Fighting Bob Fest #11 than to spend some time thinking about those two quotes.

I would add that we may have democracy but only if we have strong public schools. Everyone is watching the Chicago teachers strike in part because the battle is really over privatizing schools. Until Howard Fuller or Rahm Emanuel can explain how private schools will take care of students with disabilities they are just blowing smoke.

As we start Fighting Bob Fest, we must develop a course of action on a number of fronts. Money out of politics is the way to start this ball rolling. I am optimistic. Anyone who marched around the Capitol saw an amazing spirit awakened. The incredible fact that people who sing in the dome are being arrested or fined shows me just how scared the Walker folks are. Let's take more steps to reform our electoral system. Let's figure out what workd and what does not.

See you at the Alliant Center at 8:30 Saturday morning. Remember you must have fun or we will fail.
