Correction
In GarveyBlog yesterday, I wrote that there is a $10 fee for the Friday night Fighting Bob Fest kickoff at the Goodman Community Center in Madison. We decided to just pass the buckets rather than charge $10. So Friday night's screening of Phil Donahue's Body of War with Phil there to comment and answer questions is free. The Goodman Community center is small, so come early and have a beer with Jim Hightower, Phil, me and our volunteers.
This will be a night to remember. Some of you have seen Body of War but most have not. It is a perfect moment to review the film and to discuss why America goes to war so often, and Donahue's film forces us to face the consequences of war on the young people we ask to fight the wars. The Fighting Bob Fest website will have more information but here is a thumbnail of the breakout sessions:
The Real War on Women: Terry O'Neill, president of NOW, and our friend Patty Lowe.
Normon Solomon; Mike McCabe John Matthews will facilitate the breakout discussion on the awful impact of Citizen's United.
Open Pit Strip Mining: Mike Wiggens; Bob Kincaid from Apalacha; Al Gedicks and Frank Koehn.
ALEC Exposed: Lisa Graves and Mary Bottari.
Climate Change: Bill McKibben.
The Destructive Force of Citizen's United: Mike McCabe.
We are extremely enthused about this program. Bring some spending money for progressive mustard, T-shirts, FightingBob.com glasses and more.
Parking is free.
