What a night!
It must have been pure joy in Charlotte, N.C. last night as speaker after speaker hit homerun after homerun. The Democratic Convention was like the homerun contest at the MLB All-Star Game. I had never heard of Julian Castro, mayor of San Antonio, but I know him now. He delivered a great keynote speech. A great speech. He hit every ball. He has very bright future. (Chris Matthews said it was the greatest speech he has heard at a convention.)
Governor Duval Patrick gave a superb speech. While I had heard of Patrick, the Massachussets governor, who had to clean-up the mess that Romney left behind, last night was the first time I heard him speak and I want to hear him again.
And there was Michelle Obama. When my granddaughter heard her speak in Madison she had a one word reaction: "WOW"! That was my reaction last night. A second Obama president?
All in all, a great night. The progressives were on stage and they were superb.
As we put the final touches on Fighting Bob Fest last night, lots of ideas flowed. We need a plan to attack Citizens United and voter suppression. Our opposition must go beyond words. Most of the delegates to that convention cannot run for office because they cannot raise enough money to win. Please come to Bob Fest with your ideas for action to take back elections from the corporate corrupters. Send them early to FightingBob.com and we will post the ideas before Bob Fest.
Speaking of Fighting Bob Fest: Buddy Roemer, Dr. Jill Stein, Phil Donahue, Jim Hightower, Terry O'Neill, president of NOW, Bil McKibben, Greg Palast,Norman Solomon, John Nichols, Stan Gruszynski, Gwen Moore, Mahlon Mitchell. What a program. We will post all the breakouts tomrrow.
This year I will co-chair the Fest with Ruth Conniff. It is going to be our best. We need you--your presence, your enthusiasm, your ideas.

It was a great night of fiction stories. Barry doesn't care if your a Democrate or a Republican that was a great line of fiction from the first lady. Unfortunately the Jedi mind trick only works on progressives.
