Outrageous! Political! All of the above.
President Obama placed a tack on teacher's chair. He bypassed Congress. Oh, no! Not that. Homeland Security will not move to deport young illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. before age 16, lived here at least five years, are high school grads, or are in the army. The quote I like best came from Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa, perhaps the dimist bulb, who said, "The president's action is an affront to the process of representative government by circumventing Congress and with a directive he may not have the authority to execute."

Time for a nap, Chuck. "An affront to Congress"? A Congress that refuses to compromise on anything and has in essence eliminated representative government from the scene. A Congress that has made representative government a joke by refusing to work with the president! A Congress that turned every vote into a filibuster! An affront? Surely you jest.

Good for you, Mr. President.

What the Republican'ts know most about representative government is the concept of free speech. Money is now free speech. The more money one has, the more free speech. If a person doesn't have enough free speech, he/she will never get the attention of any elected official.

So much for representation in government.

I think today I will buy myself a new car with the little bit of free speech I have left.

Interesting concept Ed. Let's allow illegal aliens to stay and enjoy the benefits of citizens. If so, why bother with trivialities like citizenship at all? Why not just let anyone into this country?

Here is an interesting question for you as a lawyer. Should anyone be allowed to practice law whether they have a license or not? Why should people have to follow silly rules? Why not just let anyone who wants to practice law do so?

We have rules and laws for a reason. When government decides that some laws are meaningless then government becomes meaningless. So I ask again, why not just let anyone be a doctor, lawyer or CPA without any license at all?

I think it is a typical Obungle half measure that sounds better than it is. He also missed (yet again) an opportunity to lambast the do-nothing congress when it comes to this issue.

I wish someone could explain to me this guy's conflict averse attitude. That, and why is it always the "other side" or "some people" who refuse to act, aren't being responsible, whatever. It is the damned GOP! Why oh why can't he just come out and say it?!!

I don't get why liberals like this guy. He is a frustrating pill of a politician. Book smart and street stupid.

Emperor Obama is just pretending to be progressive on certain issues in order to con people into voting for four more years of the kill list, police repression, government secrecy, etc. Remember Obama's campaign promises from 2008? How did that work out? War criminals are running around free, whistleblowers face the most aggressive assault in U.S. history. Where was Obama during Walker's assault on Wisconsin? Too busy selling access at his fundraisers, too cowardly to stand with workers.

Of course the Repugs in congress have been obstructionist. The government is infested with parasites from the two corporate owned parties, all three branches have made it clear that they represent Wall St. and the people have no representation.

Whoever seizes power in November, we can be sure that things will continue to get worse as long as those in power continue to serve big money.

Ah Alfred...you want to talk about rules, and regulations, and priorities? Let's talk about how the GOP and perhaps more polticians love to look the other way whenever it suits them. Recall how they toss all the rules and oh God help us, "ooooooo reguLATIONS? oo,oh-oh," out the window whenever convenient for one of the investment scam plans. The better to casino scam your houses with, said the Wall Street Wolf, the better to run off with the AIG insurance funds and let the tax payers bail them out with, said the Wall Street Wolf, and on and on to cheap labor, outsourcing our jobs, and opening the gates to immigration for cheap labor. Phooey to anyone concerned with "rules and regulations." Thou protesteth too much....and too incompletely. Puhleeze.

Let me get this straight Ed. The governor of Michigan takes over the bankrupt city of Benton Harbor and kicks the people's duelly elected representives to the curb. You then went nuts about this for months saying how it is an affront to representive government and a abuse of power. When your President does the same thing you think it's just great. Nothing like being a big fat hypocrite Ed.

I guess we are still pretending that we are unable to secure our borders. I guess we are still pretending that U.S. small businesses don't want this source of cheap labor (and never did). My best guess is that Mr. Grassley didn't mention the fact that the current administration has deported twice as many people as the Bush administration.

It is just another brilliant political move by a master politician. The President will collect all of the Hispanic vote, without having to tie one single Supreme Court justice to the roof of his car. I would, however, love to see Scalia's hair blowing in the wind.

My last guess is: the President does not even have to get this limited amnesty program past any legislators. As a matter of fact, he will benefit most if it is not passed. Be assured, however, that if the man is re-elected: illegal immigration into the United States will be slowed to a trickle. That's just who he is; he was born here.

I can't help but wonder what a beautifal place America would be if only the Native Americans deported all the illegal immigrants. I guess some people feel I got mine is more important than justice.

(for SW) Selective memory...you too? Still not hearing any outrage over war built for economic support or expansion, disguised as flag waving?)(now one of your great GOP senators wants to feed us the same "propaganda as other countries receive so that the American public supports any "preemptive" wars" for whatever reason they dream up), or the Great Wall Street casino housing robbery. Come on. Talk about other things that ALSO really matter and cause human death and despair..not just a glitch to your portfolio. Disgust permeates.
