Jim Crow replaces Bucky
In the Karl Rove, Lee Atwater, Roger Ailes era, a candidate for federal office must accept the fact that if the candidate has done nothing wrong then Rove and others will make up something, push it in TV spots, and voila! It becomes the issue in the campaign. (When Robert Kasten ran 30-second spots suggesting that money was missing from the NFL pension fund under my watch, we laughed at the absurdity of the falsehood. But when every TV station in or near Wisconsin blasted the lie, it became real. By the time we figured out just how nasty the spots were, it was too late to respond. Same for Dukakis, Louis Butler, and other victims.)
Remember, if there is no evidence, make it up. The NY Times, wrote today: "GOP Legislators Move to Tighten Rules on Voting." The Times compared Republican efforts with Jim Crow laws with their literacy tests and poll taxes. A photo ID will be required in many if not most states to vote next year. Well, now, there must be widespread voter fraud to persuade governors and legislators to tighten the rules, but, oops! No evidence to support the claims of fraud, so make it up! The arguement is, in essence, "There must be fraud if we are not catching it!"
The worst voter fraud I have ever even imagined was in Florida when thousands of African-Americans were taken off the rolls on the false ground that they were felons. What did Florida do about that? Nada! Was it human error or was it real?
While the photo ID issue sticks in my craw, the right is running out of tactics. Soon all African Americans, all seniors, all students will be registered, they will vote in big numbers, and they will overcome this outrageous effort to discourage voters. The only acts of voter fraud are the false claims made by politicians about the need to eliminate easy registration.

Conservative republicans are perhaps the most fraudulent group of people I have ever seen. They lie, cheat and steal to get and hold onto what they want. The only consolation is, when they die, they can't take it with them. The rest of us can't wait that long. Photo IDs are an impediment to exercising our right to vote. This nation has survived nearly 240 years without IDs. Why the all-of-a-sudden rush to mandate photo IDs now? It's but one more mechanism conservative republicans have devised to control us. Why do so many of us sit by so idly? If we take our voting rights to heart, we'd storm the capitol and stay there until the nonsense stops. Unfortunately the state remains split with nearly half believing the conservative republicans are the answers to our prayers.

Have you ever seen a good looking image on a driver's license or any other ID? Some of those make us look like criminals. So, now we have to have these damn ID's to vote. Can we be denied the right to vote if our ID's make us look like felons?

Photo I.D. to vote must be against our constitution.They didn't have photos back when it was adopted.But they did have Witches.This must be a new Witch hunt by the right wing.
Most of these chicken hawks have avoided serving our country to protect our constitutional rights.
On this Memorial Day lets resolve to expose all those cowards for what they are. Lets pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served and those who are now serving our country especially those who gave their lives for us.

While there may still be some weight to the phrase, "All politics are local" I believe that it is more accurate to say "All politics are racial". There can be no other reason for requiring (1) showing "your papers" in order to vote, (2) allowing all the "law abiding", aka white residents, to go around armed to protect themselves from all of the law breakers, aka people of color.

The only racism I see is you people. You think so little of minorities that you believe them to be incapable of getting a ID. Then college students who are smart enough to get into a college are to dumb to get a ID. If that's the case then our higher education standards are a bigger problem. If my 85 year old aunt can figure out how to get a ID I'm pretty sure the rest can too.
I have to show a photo ID to buy alcohol,cash a check, or buy cold medicine. Not rights you say? I have to show photo ID to exercise my 2nd amendment right every time I purchase a firearm. This is so the government can do a background check on me before I'm given permission to then exercise that right. If the firearm is a pistol I must wait 72hrs before the government will allow me to have my property. If I would like to purchase or build a short barreled rifle, silencer or other NFA weapon or device I need a photo ID ,a set of my finger prints, check for the $200 TAX to exercise my 2nd amendment RIGHT and I need the chief law enforcement officer to sign off on me owning it. After that get to wait 4 to6 months. You think those are reasonable restrictions to exercise a persons 2nd amendment right and your really trying to argue a photo ID to vote is just to much?
