Getting there
News--In the end, 102 Democrats and 12 Republicans voted against the $59 billion war appropriations bill. Proud to say David Obey voted "No."

I'm also pleased to announce Obey will speak at Fighting Bob Fest on September 11.

NFL, in amazing development, has concluded football can be dangerous! What's next? NFL Joins BP Truth Squad, perhaps?

Yesterday the NFL sent posters out to teams noting that concussions can be life altering. They added this quote: "Work smart. Use your head, don't lead with it." In an odd coincidence, Jack Tatum died yesterday. Jack, trained to punish wide receivers crossing the middle, hit Darryl Stingley, and Stingley was a quadriplegic as a result. Who was responsible? The media blamed Tatum and condemned him for not apologizing. Tatum said, "I was paid to hit. I will never understand why people look at me as the villain."

Missing a few bucks? "Where did I put that $8.7 billion anyway?" The Pentagon can't find $8.7 billion that is supposed to be used to reconstruct Iraq. Can you believe it? I can but don't want to.

What's NOT to believe about the Pentagon missing $8 or $9 billion - - back in 2001 Sec of Defense Rumsfeld 'wrote-off' over $1 TRILLION (that's an 'illion' with a "TR" - - NOT a "B") in money the military/Pentagon couldn't account for! But we couldn't afford $17 billion a year nationally for AFDC ('welfare') back in the 1990's because that was 'too wasteful'... pretty pathetic commentary on where we are.
