The U.S. is back!
The groan heard throughout Asia was in response to Hillary Clinton's pledge that the United States will become "more engaged" in Asia. Wowsers. We were pretty "engaged" in the police action usually referred to as the Korean War. Then there was Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Afghanistan (where we have already spent $222.5 billion), and these days North Korea's nukes could set off an explosion, and Iran (a bombing by Israel followed by....), and then we have little China.

So, may we ask, if "we are back," where have we been?

Candidate Clinton, a/k/a Secretary of State, said at a news conference in Thailand, and I'm not making this up, "President Obama and I are giving great importance to this region." Are Asians lucky or what? (Does this mean Joe Biden will not visit Asia?)

Remember Farm Progress Days? Now the summer event is called Farm Technology Days. Where? Waterloo, today through Thursday. Check out our short video.

How embarrassing: Bishop Morlino shut down the Multicultural Center with three days notice. The center is the diocese's "most direct outreach to minorities and the poor." Citizens have responded and Our Lady Queen if Peace parish is leading an effort to take over and run the center. An anonymous giver pledged $175,000 as a matching grant. Even the Madison City Council voted to give $13,599. Wake-up, Bishop Morlino. If this is how you treat minorities and the poor isn't it time for some reflection on your mission?
