A college degree? C'mon!
The Joint Finance Committee, normally described as "the all-powerful" JFC, passed the new budget last night and included a provision that so-called "choice" schools must "ensure that most of their teachers have college degrees." I'm not kidding. Wow! Such high standards!
Commonsense MIA: Whatever your view of the budget, you may feel the urge to up-chuck over this item reported in JS: The majority rushed to finish the budget in time for a "fundraiser for Democratic Senators" scheduled for 9:30 this morning. Whoa Nelly! (Remember that the Legislature refused to take up public financing of judicial races despite the urging of all seven Justices, but boldly asserted they made a major move by "banning fund raising while debating the budget." Is there no decent interval folks?)
And Herb Kohl can rest easy because his fellow Dems voted to spend $5 million on the Bradley Center. Buckle your seat belts--next they will agree to fund a new arena in Milwaukee--home of the hapless Bucks.
One item that should please is the repeal of QEO next July. While you have not heard the last of it, QEO may be dead--RIP.
Gotta go...big fundraiser this morning! (Just kidding.)
