A real international coaltion
FightingBob.com contributing editor Hiroshi Kanno and wife Arlene, are participating in a worldwide forum in Kyoto, Japan, devoted to discussions about preserving the world’s water resources and how best to protect them from corporate exploitation and pollution. While President Bush dismisses the importance of international cooperation in his war to destroy Baghdad, the Kannos are taking FightingBob's message worldwide. 5,000 leaders assembled in Kyoto for World Water Forum III seem to understand that we are all in this together.
Kanno is the leader of Concerned Citizens of Newport, one of two groups that have successfully resisted Perrier’s attempts to build a massive water bottling plant in this state. Kanno confronted a dozen CEOs from transnational corporations during the forum last week, and challenged them to defend their corporate values. “When a community says ‘no’ then the corporations should listen. Community people should not have to mortgage their farms and go to court to stop them from destroying their rural community with their bottling plant and high capacity wells,” Kanno said.
Nice job, Hiroshi. He will give a full report when they return.
