Where to start
Some days there are so many stories of interest to progressives that are mostly ignored by the corporate media it is hard to chose. Aha, so many stories so little time! Let's start.
Several polls agree that Romney is about 19 points behind President Obama among women voters. More women vote than men, so this is a story that must have his team panting. If Mitt alters his views on women he will lose the evangelicals who don't trust him anyway. That said, many of us agree that Romney cannot win unless he closes the gender gap, but it is, in my view, not possible. At least not in this world. In order to defeat reactionaries like Santorum and Newt, Romney decided to go so far to the right that he stole Santorum's base. Then pivot, and move to the middle. Oops! That ain't gonna happen.
Now the chickens are coming home to roost as Romney has the nomination pretty much locked up. He wants to pivot to the center but he really can't. He has told women you are "on your own" if he kills Planned Parenthood. Take care of your own health care! He has agreed with Santorum on most issues. When you start that close to the lunatic fringe, it would require an Evil Knievel Grand Canyon leap to move him to the center. Can't be done!
Here is the humor. Romney's team decided to host a conference call on women's issues. One of the first questions was, "Does the governor support the Lily Ledbetter law?" (You know--the first bill Obama signed into law. The law requiring equal pay for women.) Response, "We will get back to you on that." Whoa Nelly! The gap just widened.
FAKE DEMOCRATS. Can you believe it? If Democrats ran "fake Republicans" the editorials would flow like a river in spring. But the decision of the GOP to run fake Democrats in the upcoming primary is an outrage that will likely go unpunished by the media. A letter to the editor from Colleen Foley raised hell about the fraud and cited statutes that rule out "filing a false declaration of candidacy." I haven't checked out the stats yet but I will. In the meantime, common sense suggests that false or fake candidates should not be allowed.

PUBLIC FINANCING. A group of rich people in New York have decided that we deserve campaigns that reflect what voters want not what the special interests want. They will propose for the state of New York the campaign finance reform many of us have been fighting for for decades. One group member said, You know what, this doesn't make sense. This isn't what democracy is supposed to be about.

The darkening of America. It's the Republican rightwing effect on us all. Divide and conquer, slash and burn. Create discord, confusion, chaos. Pit people against one another so we are distracted from real issues about real governance. Strip people of rights by making them feel they still have rights. Limit our freedoms with ALEC while making us feel free with gun rights. Scared people do irrational acts.
The Republican't party has failed the American people. It is trying to destroy our psyche.

Why is it OK for our illustrious governor to gallivant around the country as he begs for money to finance his recall campaign but not OK for out of state money to come in for those who plot his overthrow?

Aparently you forget Democrates running "Place Holders" a few years ago. It was no big deal then. Now suddenly when republicans do the same thing they are "fake democrates" the lefts constant "fake" outrage is getting to be very comical.
