Remember all those who rant that this is a Christian country? Capital punishment is alive and doing quite well. Poverty persists. Many of the sick go without care. Homelessness and hunger are daily facts for many. So much for Christian values. The only value important to many is the value of the greenback and the DOW.
And let us not forget how incredibly low that "poverty line" bar is set. We could easily raise it a few thousand dollars or what have you, and wouldn't that percentage increase quickly? How about something like a two-tier labeling system - let's see - which would be worse - 'poverty' or 'destitution'? Get my drift? The statistical lable is a smokescreen for what's really going on.
One of those supposed journalists should ask Perry or Romney tonight whether corporations can be executed. After all, Massey Energy killed 29 people in one of their mines. Are the CEO, top exces, and top shareholders going to be executed now? Hey, corporations are people, aren't they?
Had Troy Davis been a wealthy white dude, do you think we'd be reading his obit this morning? Does hatred and racial prejudice exist? How many more flubbed executions must there be before we do away with capital punishment?
