C'mon Tom!
Maybe there is no hope. When people are elected (politicians) or appointed (bankers) they develop tin-ear, a little known but difficult ailment. No, I'm not describing tinnitus, Tin Ear disease can be diagnosed from your home and can be cured by throwing the rascals/victims out. For example, the appointed ones who gave themselves $18 billion in bonuses for their 2008 performance should be sent to Gitmo. Whoa Nelly! OK, they didn't have such a good year, but neither did the Cubs. But the Cubs get it. The Cubs don't try to feed us b.s., they say, as they have for a hundred years, "Wait'till next year," and the loyalty grows. But our brilliant financial giants, having screwed up our entire economy say there may not be a "next year," but if there is, "we must pay to keep our good people," ignoring Jon Stewart's rejoinder: "You don't have any good people." Tin Ear.

Just as we learn about the bonus payments, Tom Daschle tells us he "forgot" to claim a car and driver as a taxable benefit, not to mention consulting fees. How much? (Hint, it puts the Wisconsin Legislature's $88 per day in perspective. One a venial sin the other a mortal sin.) Tom "forgot" to pay $140,000 in taxes on a two million dollar consulting fee received from a lobbying/law firm, Alston & Bird! An official called it a "stupid mistake" when he should have pled "temporary insanity" or "Tin-Ear" disease.

Let's see. The Speaker of the Massachussets House, a Democrat, resigned faced with corruption; The Speaker of the Florida House, a Republican, has stepped aside, yup charges of corruption. No need to pause to discuss the former governor of Illinois. All victims of Tin Ear disease. The head man at treasury forgot to pay some taxes, Dashle got two million as a consultant, Bill Clinton got $10 million in speaking fees--Wow. Must have been damned good speeches, and Daschle must be one hell of a consultant. Hey! What the hell is going on? Is anyone vaccinated for tin-ear?

Daschle should back away. Time to find people we trust.

Several things are clear from this post and the last several posts. Despite all the yammering about "Change" the Obamists have simply tapped into the same old Clinton era crowd to run the show. Some change.

Here at the state level Rep. VanRoy (R) offered a bill that would set up a legislative committee, with Dems holding the majority of the seats (as is right given the election results) that would oversee the stimulus money coming from Washington. The Dems shot the idea down. It is a sad day when representatives of the so-called "Party of the People" cave into the man who would be King of Wisconsin (Oily Doyle) and thereby let a Republican make them look bad.

Change? Right. Let us know how this all works out. For now it is the same old crap wrapped up in a new package. Tin ear indeed. NONE of these clowns have figured out that the old system of doing things essentially collapsed this past summer and fall. If they want to put Humpty Dumpty back together again let them join the Congress in Cloud Cuckoo Land. Other than that they should get the hell out of the way and at least shut up. Time for Obama, and our so-called Democratic leaders like Tom Nelson etc. to get a clue and give the old guard the bums rush.
