Bye bye PBS, hello Fox
The fox is not only in the chicken coop, she is in charge of the farm. Cheryl Halpern, "a major Republican fund-raiser" was selected to be the next chair of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The NY Times reports that she advocated that "journalists in public braodasting be punished for editorializing."

Amy Goodman reported that Halpern agreed with Trent Lott that "Bill Moyers is the most biased journalist in the U.S."

Andi Sporkin, a spokeswoman at NPR, commented on PBS under Ken Tomlinson the rightwinger who is currently in charge of PBS and who engineered her appointment: "We've watched an organization that has supported public broadcasating for four decades, and through all administrations, become an instrument of ideology and agenda." Her plea was to us and the Congress to "restore the fire wall and right the course of CPB."

Halpern promised to pursue "balance" just like Fox. Fair and balanced. And, if you believe that, I have some land I'd like to sell you in Mississippi.

This is a silent coup. They have completed the circuit. They control corporate media, now they are in charge of public television and radio. Will our governor take the lead in developing a plan to protect Wisconsin Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Television? Or do we sit and watch?

Time to raise hell folks.

Wal-Mart victory
Meanwhile, back at home, the good folks were outhustlted by the anti-competition folks known as Wal-Mart supporters.
