The late Mayor Zeidler was certainly accurate in everything David Giffey relates. I only wish that Zeidler's and similar opinions had carried more weight back in the 70s-present, but I'm coming to believe --- like cynical author Morris Berman --- that this country has too much of an inherent base of 'hucksterism' which overrides the occasional better impulses of many groups & individuals. Only when there's some severe threat to their well being do enough individuals even give lip service to 'the public good', otherwise they can watch their neighbor's lose their jobs while they themselves save a couple of bucks buying foreign goods, and only shrug their shoulders...
