Democrats and unions are in this thing together--whether they like it or not.

It was actually Ben Franklin who coined the phrase regarding hanging together or hanging separately. Chavez may have repeated it, but it belongs to Franklin. Ignoring a founder of the republic in favor of a labor organizer, no matter how successful, is needlessly distracting from the problems the Progressive movement faces.

Alas, public employee unions killed themselves. When disaster struck the economy in 2008, unions refused to budge. People with nothing saw that and became upset. Indeed, the elite helped, but millionaire public employees in Milwaukee County only enraged many others. People with nothing saw public employees complaining. The rich are evil, but our public unions went too far, were tone-deaf and got slammed for it.
