Not mentioned in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel but spread over several pages in the North Shore NOW are the huge deficits and tax increases thanks to Walker et al, in Shorewood, Fox Point, Mequon, Thiensville, etc. All us "rich" folks will get to pay through the nose and more for sale signs crop up every day with already no takers.
I can't remember the last time I watched TV news, unless it was Fox while I was trapped at the car dealers waiting for an oil change. I scan the headlines of online news like Journal Sentinel and Wisconsin State Journal, but read even fewer articles now that they are demanding that I subscribe in order to read more than a few articles per month. The Nation, The Progressive and this blog, along with a few others are life (and sanity)-savers.
Several years ago a Harpers article pointed to a 1968 Bohemian Grove 'fraternity of the 1%" gathering as the beginning of a planned media purchase. The frightened tycoons saw counterculture building at home and students allying with labor to affect a general strike in France. To protect 'their way of life" they decided to buy the various media outlets, control what the masses read and heard thereby averting the revolution DeGaulle feared was about to erupt in France. |
