Letter on: All heart
“Thanks for your well written article. I had two rather strong reactions to two of the issues you addressed. Your point about La Follette's unwillingness to give up his integrity seems particularly apropos regarding the possibility of a canceled debate. McCain readily admits he doesn't know much about the economy so his need to be in Washington to participate in negotiations rings hollow and sounds to me like a cheap excuse to avoid his responsibility to the voters in America. The American people must have an opportunity to assess the candidates, to hear from them directly and to learn as much about them as possible in order to make an informed decision when they vote. To deny such an opportunity would reveal what little respect McCain has for democracy and give evidence to the lie involved in his slogan.”

Letter on: What Would Fighting Bob Do about Fighting Bob Fest?
“"At the Sauk County fairgrounds in Barboo on September 6, the Fest held in the name of Fighting Bob La Follette invites you to exchange innovative and practical solutions to regaining our democracy. I'll be there to remind people of the great legacy left."
I didn't see much.”

Letter on: Every day is Fighting Bob Fest
“Congratulations on a wonderful Bobfest -- best ever! Every speaker was so great, inspiring us and giving us so many new ideas to ruminate on as we go into the election period. We need that because the McCain-Palin ticket is truly frightening. But we will continue to canvas and call and write and hope that we can succeed in getting our progressive values into circulation. Thanks again!
Next time, why not just tell folks that the cost is $20 right away -- save passing the hat three times! Also, the last speaker never receives full attention since people are starting to leave,so I suggest you have appropriate music at that time. It will shorten the day a bit, but that's probably just as well -- it's a full day!
Thanks again.”

Letter on: Designed to fail
“Does it make any sense to cut taxes for the wealthy, so they have more money, then turn around and borrow that money back from them, paying interest, to fund the government?
Only if you're a politician.”

Letter on: What's he token?
“I firmly believe that Sarah Palin does not have the brains to get out of the rain. ”
