WWFBD? The New Politics of Moving Wisconsin Forward
We are in the midst of determining the future direction of our state. We will either be the progressive land of La Follette, Gaylord Nelson, Bob Kastenmier, Dave Obey, and Midge Miller or the selfish state of Scott Walker and Paul Ryan. We will view government as an instrument in the battle to achieve social and economic justice, or live with Reagan's view that "government is the problem." Government will be our friend or it will drown in the Grover Norquist bathtub.
We do not know how the elections will turn out today--Madison mayor, Dane and Milwaukee county execs and, of course, the Supreme Court election, but we do know that our struggle will require more energy not less. A few of us decided to throw a party for the victors in this election while celebrating the effort to save Wisconsin. The idea came to me the night we packed the Barrymore: "Let's rent the hall (done) the day after the election and get ready for the next round!”
Join us Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the Barrymore Theater in Madison: beer, music, celebration. Spread the word.
